The Move

  I never thought I would be here in Oceanside. Around two years ago, my mom and dad decided it would be nice to leave the desert where we were living, in exchange for a greener, cooler climate. We have a lot of family in Oceanside so that had a lot to do with the decision as well. My mom even made us write about it in our journals everyday. My sister and I were homeschooled at the time. I did not know then that it would happen so soon. Suddenly, my dad got a great job offer and it was actually going to happen. Now Iwas getting nervous. My whole life was going to change. It made me think, “What if thisis a mistake in my life? ” I was miserable.

A few days before the actual move we had to put everything into a huge U-Haultruck. It took forever! Meanwhile we had to live in the house with no furniture, meaning we had to sleep on the floor with no t.v. It was pretty weird to see house with nothing in it. The house seemed plain and lonely.

When we first got to Oceanside we had to stay with my aunt Dirt for a while. Her real name is Danni. ‘Dirt ‘ is a family nick name that she has had since she was a kid. I love my aunt Dirt, but I was worried about living with her because she is known throughout the family as the ‘Bed time Nazi. ‘ It ‘s lights out at 8:30. It was crowded ather house and I had to sleep on the couch, but it was only for a month.

We finally found a place of our own right up the street from my mom ‘s four cousins and my aunt Dirt. They all have kids and we get together for dinner a couple of times a week. I am the oldest kid by three years so it is boring sometimes, but it ‘s kind of fun having the family around. The house we found is really small though and all of our stuff from our old house. I hated the thought of living in a house that I’m not used to,but I’ve found some things I like about it. For one thing, there are no houses behind us. just a big canyon, so we get to see some interesting wild life. We ‘ve seen scorpions, coyotes, snakes, and owls. The view is pretty incredible too.

Becaues I had been homeschooled since the fifth grade, and I don’t know anyonehere, I decide to go back to school. So here I am at Oceanside High. It has been a big adjustment for me as you can imagine. This school is gigantic. So far most of the kids I’ve talked to are really cool and my teachers are very nice and helpful. The worst part of school to me, are the strict security guards. The best part of school is the learning and socializing. I hope to make some good friends, though that is difficult for me because I’m a little shy.

It’s been seven months since my mom, dad, my little sister, and I moved here. It’sbeen about one month since I started going to school. Over all it’s been a great experience. I like our house and I like school. Being at such a big school with so many different kinds of kids has really helped me come out of my shell a lot. I like the diversity of Oceanside High. After being so nervous about all of these recent changes, and living through it, I feel stronger. The move was a good idea.

Is Hunting Bad

I think hunting is bad because I think animals deserve to live just as much as we do.
